Honduras cuenta con poco mas de 9 millones de habitantes. Al día, el país está catalogado como uno de los países con mayor riesgo social e inseguridad en Latinoamérica y el mundo. Creemos en Honduras y en su potencial para desarrollarse como una nación punta de lanza en la región. Sabemos que la educación es un pilar fundamental para el desarrollo del país. Sin embargo, son muchos los hondureños que no tienen acceso a servicios educativos formales. Según datos de la Encuesta de Hogares de mayo de 2010, de los 951,194 jóvenes en edad universitaria (entre los 19 y 24 años), solamente un 12% asiste a un centro de educación superior. Un 88% de jóvenes hondureños se quedan fuera por diferentes causas. De entre estos, hay muchos que no pueden siquiera pagar la matrícula y libros para entrar a las universidades públicas (aprox. $80 al año). Honduras Avanza busca levantar fondos para cubrir con estos gastos básicos para estos jóvenes. Apoyando a estos jóvenes, cambiamos el futuro de sus familias y transformamos la Nación. Te nos unes? Un fuerte abrazo, Honduras is a country in Central America with over 9 million inhabitants. The country has an amazing potential to develop as a spear tip nation in the region. Erratic decisions from the past have had a strong impact on the present of this nation. To date, Honduras is ranked as one of the countries with the highest level of social risk and with greater insecurity in Latin America and the world. We believe in Honduras and we are convinced that the condemnation it has been subdued to is not perpetual. We know that education is a fundamental pillar to the development of a nation. However, college education has become a privilege for Hondurans. Many of them Hondurans have no or little access to it. According to the Household Survey, May 2010, out of 951,194 young people in the ages of 19 to 24 years who could potentially attend college only 110,026 are actually attending.* That is, only 12% of young people who should be in college are actually in school while the remaining 88% of college-aged young Hondurans are not. Many of these young people are not in college due to the economic situation (among other factors) faced by their families. Out of these, there are many who can not even pay for tuition and books to enter public universities (about $ 80 a year). Honduras Avanza seeks to raise funds to cover these basic expenses (among other things) for these youth. Somos un movimiento que facilita becas académicas para hacer posible el acceso a la educación universitaria para jóvenes de escasos recursos económicos en Honduras. We are a movement that facilitates scholarships to allow low-income youth in Honduras have access to college education. Somos un movimiento sin fines de lucro que cree en Honduras y nos esforzamos por hacer posible que aquellos que de otra manera no podrían, tengan acceso a una educación universitaria en Honduras. We are a non-profit movement who believes in Honduras and strives to enable those who otherwise couldn’t, have access to a college education in Honduras. Facilitamos becas académicas a jóvenes estudiantes de escasos recursos económicos que tengan el deseo, la pasión y la voluntad de esforzarse, salir adelante y hacer un cambio importante en el futuro de su familia y ser catalizadores de la transformación de la nación. We facilitate scholarships for young students with limited financial resources who have the desire, the passion and the will to strive, succeed and make a major change in the future of their families and be a catalyst for the transformation of the nation. La visión es tan grande que no podríamos hacerlo solos. Por ello, nos asociamos con diferentes partes interesadas para hacer esto posible: 1) Socios financieros. Personas; individuos, familias, así como empresas y otras organizaciones que creen en esta visión y reconocen que su ayuda puede hacer un impacto exponencial en la vida de individuos, familias y naciones. 2) Mentores. Profesionales de diferentes carreras que tienen un fuerte espíritu liderazgo que les impulsa a compartir con otros y hacer un impacto duradero en el futuro del país. 3) Familias Anfitrionas. Familias que voluntariamente abren sus casas para recibir a nuestros estudiantes y les proporcionan una habitación para que puedan descansar, estudiar y sentirse como en casa. 4) Estudiantes y sus Familias. Son los recipientes de las becas. Aquellos en quienes creemos e invertimos para que se conviertan en los transformadores de la nación. 4) Escuelas públicas. Los estudiantes que reciben nuestra Beca Completa son asignados como mentores a estudiantes de secundaria que tienen dificultades académicas. The vision is so big that we would not be able to do it by ourselves. Therefore, we associate with different stake holders to make this possible: 1) Financial Partners.people; individuals, families and businesses and other organizations who believe in this vision and recognize that their help can make an exponential impact on the lives of individuals, families and nations. 2) Mentors: Professionals from different careers who have a strong spirit of leadership that makes them be eager to share with others and make a lasting impact on the country’s future. Give back. 3) Host Families. Families who willingly open their homes to receive our students and provide them with a living space were they can rest, study and feel at home. 4) Students and their families. The recipients of the scholarships. Those we are believing & investing on to be nation changers. 5) Public Schools. Students who receive our Full Ride Scholarship are assigned to mentor high school students who are struggling academically.
